Abstract: In 2008, at the Military Operations Research Society Symposium in New London, CT I heard a short talk about a proposed credentialing program for OR practitioners that caused me to ask, "how can I get involved?" Six years and hundreds of meetings later, I serve as the Chair of the Analytics Certification Board. This talk will provide historical anecdotes about the development of the Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) program, and my thoughts on why it is a worthy venture for INFORMS.
